Pakistan Muslim League (N) chief Mian Nawaz Sharif met Punjab PML-Quaid President Pervaiz Elahi in Lodhran late Monday night. Former Punjab governor Malik Ghulam Mustafa Khar reportedly arranged the meeting at the former federal minister Jahangir Tareen's agriculture farm. While close aide of Ghulam Mustafa Khar confirmed this meeting, PML-Q sources denied it.
Sources said that the two leaders discussed the proposed 18th amendment bill and unification of the Pakistan Muslim League's two factions and Senate elections. Besides Khar, Makhdoom Ahmad Mahmood, a cousin of Primer Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani, was also present during the meeting.
According to the sources, during the one-and-one meeting, both Nawaz and Elahi agreed on transferring of powers, enjoyed by the president, to the prime minister, and added that the two leaders also settled their differences over a number of issues. Sources further said on Tuesday, Mian Nawaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif left Bahawalpur for Islamabad, but they came back in the evening for hunting in Cholistan.
