The NWFP Assembly on Wednesday passed a unanimous resolution condemning Israel's attacks, killing of innocent Palestinian Muslims and urged the government of Pakistan and United Nations to play their role in stopping the on going injustices with the empty handed Muslims.
Senior minister Bashir Ahmad Bilour, leader of the opposition Akram Khan Durrani, PML-Q's Nighat Orakzai, PML-N, Pir Sabir Shah, PPP's Abdul Akbar Khan and Israrullah Khan Gandapur of PPP-Sherpao read out the jointly drafted resolution one after another for which the chair had already suspended the rules with the consent of the House.
The provincial minister for information Mian Iftikhar Hussain directed the relevant authorities to abolish all the illegal bus stands in provincial metropolis creating traffic congestions and problems for the people. The government, he said would take action against the responsible officials if they fail to remove all these illegal bus stands and cancel unauthorised business permits on roads.
ANP, he said had never supported corruption nor would do so in future. We have been following discipline and sought members' co-operation in improving worsening traffic problems. Similarly, he also warned drivers of illegal auto-rickshaws to leave Peshawar and shift their businesses to their native districts. Presently, he said 20,000 auto-rickshaws are plying on city roads despite the fact only 4000 are required and have registration.
Mian Iftikhar asked as to why the authorities were issuing extra registration passes saying there should not have been any mismanagement among various government departments including transport, traffic police, custom authorities etc. He, however, did not oppose referring the matter to the concerned committee. The chair referred it to the relevant committee.
