The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has planned to revise the PC-1 of Zero Point Interchange project to add some other features including its extension towards Faizabad and Peshawar Mor as well as to beautify the project.
During a visit to the project site, the CDA Chairman, Tariq Mehmood Khan asked the concerned departments to revise PC-1 of the project so that Islamabad Highway and Kashmir Highway could be extended to Faizabad and Pehawar Mor, respectively.
The Project Consultant, Mumtaz Hussain said that under the project, Islamabad Highway would be made a six-lane road up to 1,585 metres from interchange, while Kashmir Highway would stretch 1,614 metres, where both roads would be merged into three and two lane roads respectively.
The CDA Chairman said that it is necessary to expand the roads as it would look awkward when the country's widest roads merge into small roads on small distance from the project site. He was told that contractor is going ahead of schedule despite some lapses caused by Marriott blast, bad weather and Eid and Muharram holidays, adding that the project would be completed before the prescribed schedule.
Khan further directed the contractor to install signboards inscribed in English and Urdu languages to facilitate the people and asked to extend the project in a manner that it does not harms the city's environmental beauty. The project director told CDA chief that as many as 530 trees have been planted so far, while 100 more will be planted soon.
