The University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore in collaboration with the ProFarm Pakistan is organising a daylong seminar on 'Calf Nutrition and Management' on January 28. Technical experts from Holland and the UVAS will conduct the seminar where livestock farmers and professionals from the dairy farming industry from across the country are expected to participate.
The Dean, Life Sciences, Business Management, Professor Dr Talat Naseer Pasha said that in dairy farm operations, calves are considered future of the herd, but they suffer 15-20 percent mortality annually mainly due to inadequate feeding and improper management practices. 'Livestock productivity should be maximise as productivity, especially in terms of milk output and survival of calf is highly essential,' he said.
