Advisor to Prime Minister on Interior A Rehman Malik on Sunday said the investigations to probe the Mumbai mayhem are being continued under Pakistani laws and vowed not to accept any foreign pressure in this regard.
Talking to private TV channel, no help would be sought from foreign countries. However, Indian investigators would be more than welcomed. Pakistan is very open - and the inquiry officers have also been bestowed with full powers to fulfil the task.
Terming Pakistani investigators as best among the best, he added the record shows that they are quite competent to conduct the inquiry. The Indians should reciprocate Pak gestures with the same spirit and also allow Pak investigators. He said the ongoing inquiry cannot proceed forward without the provision of legally tangible evidence. He said if anyone proved involved in heinous crime would be prosecuted under the anti-terrorism act.
When asked about Indian fears of Talibanisation there, he urged them to share their findings (if any) with Pakistan and fully cooperate with Pakistan in its bid to exterminate terrorism and extremism from the entire South Asian region. Rahman Malik said that if the Indian demand for handing over the Mumbai attacks accused persisted, then the accused of the Samjhota Express might be asked for.
Responding to a query he said Pakistan was a part of international community and member of different international forums. It is bound to fulfil international obligations.
