Supreme Court resumed much-anticipated hearing of the Panama Papers case a week after the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) submitted its report amid strict security measures.

After JIT submitted its initial report against Sharif family, there has been a chaotic condition across the country as opposition leaders have been demanding resignation from PM Nawaz.

Opposition leaders addressed the media outside the Supreme Court on Monday.

Awami Muslim League (AML) chief Sheikh Rashid said the entire nation stands behind the apex court. “I’ll first see what the court says before submitting another petition to disqualify Nawaz Sharif,” local media reported. He also said that disrespecting JIT report is disrespecting Supreme Court of Pakistan.

Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) chief Sirajul Haq said, “Nawaz Sharif has to go now, there is no other way. We want no one in Parliament who does not adhere to articles 62 and 63 of the Constitution”.

MQM-Pakistan chief Farooq Sattar said the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif did not have the high moral ground after the JIT report and should resign.

Syed Khursheed Shah said on Sunday said that the decision of the ongoing Panama case in the Supreme Court would come out within a week.

PML-Q leader Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain said his party will accept SC verdict. “The Apex Court has done what the parliament failed to do,” he said.
