Joint Action Committee (JAC) for Peoples Rights has demanded of the governments of Pakistan and India to immediately set up a "Joint Action and Investigative Agency" for total co-operation and mutual assistance to address and overcome the problems of terrorism effectively.
The JAC put forth the demand during the inauguration of the Joint Signature Campaign launched by the citizens of India and Pakistan on Tuesday. They also demanded that both the governments should immediately engage in meaningful and effective dialogue and actions to address the issue of terrorism and to resolve all other outstanding problems. Governments of Pakistan and India should practice zero tolerance for religious militancy or terror acts.
They also demanded Indo-Pak governments to take all appropriate initiatives to contain and root out the activities of all militants and terrorist groups, by recognising the problem of terrorism in both the countries.
Speaking on the occasion Vice President Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) Punjab chapter Hina Jillani said that government should take action against the terrorists because they are the biggest hurdle in establishing peace between India and Pakistan. Representatives of human rights and civil society organisations were present on the occasion.
