The Lahore High Court while taking suo motu notice against arrest of doctors directed Punjab chief secretary, Inspector General Police Punjab, and Lahore Capital City Police Office to appear in person before the court on Friday.
The court in his written order observed that the incident created a great sense of fear and insecurity in the minds of the doctors, patients as well as the public at large and directed the officers to explain their position in this regard.
The court also issued notices to president Pakistan Medical Association (Punjab chapter) and law officer. The LHC took suo motu notice on a news item published on January 21 saying that members of medical profession have been manhandled by the police in order to preempt a strike by the doctors of three government hospitals.
