Pakistan Hunting and Sports Arms Development Company (PHSADC) arranged a training workshop on export procedures for arm dealers from Peshawar and Darra Adam Khel. 'The objective of the training workshop was to apprise of the arm dealers about technical and non-technical procedures of export of small arms to the outer world,' the Chairman PHSADC, Nauman Wazir said.
PHSADC will continue to hold this kind of training to inform the arm dealers across the country about the demands of exporting their products and procedure for approaching international market, Wazir added. He said that such workshop would be arranged soon for another group of arm dealers from Darra Adam Khel in Peshawar.
Wazir also said that about 90 percent of non-lethal arms are produced in Darra Adem Khel and Peshawar while some clusters of arm dealers are in other cities of Quetta, Karachi, Lahore, Dera Ismail Khan and Gujranwala. Similarly kind of seminar would be arranged in Lahore on January 30 for the arm dealers and hunters, he said.
The PHSADC has chalked out a comprehensive plan to harness the national potential in the field of hunting and sporting arms by opening opportunities of export of locally manufactured arms, accessories and outdoor equipment. Pakistan offers an exciting potential to the international market in the field of hunting and sporting sector.
The current PHSADC management he said, has set the target of increasing the annual export of hunting and sporting arms from Pakistan to the tune of dollar 100 million in the year 2011. The company is presently focusing on improving the standard of arms produced in Pakistan through value addition of the products.
In this regard, he went on to say, skilled persons are hired who are inspecting different clusters of arm manufacturers and will make recommendation for upgradation of machinery installed in existing units.
Similarly, some foreign companies are also being approached for improving the quality of locally manufactured products up to the international standard. He expressed the hope that soon the PHSADC will succeed in improving the standard of hunting and sporting arms, which will obviously increase the annual export of the country at the end of the day.
