The National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) has launched home delivery of Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC) and Child Registration Certificates (CRC) service. The applicant would have to pay Rs100 as delivery charges within the country and Rs 500 for delivery outside, APP learnt on Saturday.
Besides, fast track counters have also been set up at National Swift and Registration Centres (NSRCs) of the Authority for those applicants, who wanted to avoid long queues for obtaining CNIC or CRC.
Using this fast track counter, the applicants will have to submit Rs1, 000 for obtaining CNIC, Rs3, 000 for obtaining ID Card for Overseas Pakistanis in Middle East and Rs5, 000 for receiving CNIC in any other state of the world, Nadra sources said, adding that Rs500 would be charged for issuance for CRCs. They said that fresh ID cards would be issued free of cost at all NSRCs, as announced by the government, however if any body wants to use fast track counter for fresh CNIC, he will have to pay the fee.
The fast track service is initiated in accordance with the international standard and practices to eliminate the 'Sifarish' and VIP culture, sources said adding that the revenue earned through this initiative will be utilised in further improvement of services provided to regular CNIC applicants.
They said that the delivery period of the products would be the same as per regular procedure; however the service would save the time of the applicants. Moreover, this service will reduce long queues at NSRCs that are being observed at these centres daily.
This service was based on the successful outcome of a pilot project in Lahore PHQ, which was launched on November 24, 2008. More than 600 people got registered in Lahore under this project in only 2 months, while paying higher registration fees.
