The federal government has planned to build two hospitals in the rural areas of the federal capital to facilitate the residents, who have to rush to urban areas in any emergency or for treatment in routine life.
According to the official sources, the PC-1 for the construction of District Headquarters Hospital in federal capital is in progress and work would be initiated soon after the finalisation of PC-1 and designing of the project.
The District Headquarters Hospital is proposed to be built at Tarlai, which would cover the rural areas, situated near the Zone-IV of the capital city. Where a huge number of people inhabits due to the acute housing shortage, despite the fact that under Master Plan of Islamabad, the area has been preserved as National Park area. However, under the revised Master Plan, the Capital Development Authority has proposed to regularise all the structures raised in Zone-IV, provision of basic facilities have also been planned. The official said that besides, construction of another hospital has also been planned near Tarnol area.
The feasibility report of the project is underway, as the local influential people have offered the concerned authorities the 15-acre land for establishing a hospital. Chairman Steering Committee on Islamabad Development Package Dr Babar Awan had also said recently that the government would soon announce the mega development projects of Rs 20 billion, which would soon be initiated for the rural and urban areas of the federal capital.
A number of new schools and colleges, both for boys and girls would be established in the capital in order to meet the growing needs of education, official said.
