Standing committee on States and Frontier Regions (Safron) met under the chairmanship of Sajid Hussain Turi, MNA in the Parliament House on Tuesday afternoon. The committee examined "The Rulers of Acceding States (Abolition of Privy Purses & Privileges) (Amendment) Bill, 2008".
The Bill is aiming to propose amendments in the Rulers of Acceding States (Abolition of Privy Purses & Privileges) Order, 1972 which does not provide for enhancement of maintenance allowance to the rulers of acceding states or their dependants.
The committee also considered the illegal inclusion of Shamal Khan, a government employee in the education department in the list of government contractors by the DCO/Political Agent, FR Tank. This matter was raised in the House by Zafar Beg Bhittani, MNA and was referred to the Standing Committee by the Speaker for investigation and report. The mover gave his statement supported by relevant documents and asked the committee to take stern action against the DCO/Political Agent FR Tank and Shamal Khan.
The meeting was attended by Najam-ud-Din Khan, Minister for Safron and MNAs Asma Arbab Alamgir, Shaukatullah, Engineer Muhammad Tariq Khattak, Syed Asif Hasnain, Pervaiz Khan. Senior officers from the ministry of Safron as well as Fata secretariat were also present in the meeting.-PR
