The health policy provides an overall national vision for health sector based on "Health for All" approach, said Federal Health Minister Aijaz Hussain Jakhrani here on Tuesday.
"Provision of adequate health facilities is a big challenge not only for the resource constrained country like, ours but also for the developed world," the minister said while addressing the 26th convocation of MBBS and sixth BDS courses held at Army Medical College (AMC), Rawalpindi, on Tuesday.
Jakhrani said that the humanity had progressed to unparalleled heights in every field, but the menace of disease had followed us like a shadow. As such complete dedication and determination was imperative to address these problems, he added. The Minister said that he was confident that with the professional knowledge and training acquired, these young doctors would be able to contribute in a big way towards the national efforts to alleviate the sufferings of ailing humanity.
He said that the pace of technological and scientific growth in the field of medicine was tremendous. Miraculous developments in the fields of biotechnology, genetic engineering, pharmaceutical sciences and nanotechnology were transforming healthcare in a revolutionary manner.
Telemedicine had opened new vistas of patient care by making state of the art medical support available to the remote areas of the world, he added. Earlier in his welcome address, AMC Principal Major General Tasswar Hussain said that the remarkable performance of the two graduating courses and the excellent results of the medal winners spoke of high standards at the AMC. Later, the chief guest awarded degrees and medals to the graduating students, who achieved distinction in various fields.
