The government on Wednesday apprised the Islamabad High Court (IHC) that it would reach out of the court agreement with Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan regarding his alleged illegal detention. The Deputy Attorney General Amjad Iqbal Qureshi requested the single member bench of Chief Justice Sardar Muhammad Aslam hearing the petition of Dr A Q Khan filed through former law minister and senior lawyer S M Zafar, to grant some time to resolve the issue.
The Chief Justice accepted the request and adjourned the hearing till February 6 The petition pleaded the court to order the authorities to ease the restrictions imposed on Dr Khan in the name of security measures. Earlier, on July 21, a single bench of the IHC comprising of Chief Justice Sardar Muhammad Aslam had disposed of a similar writ petition barring Dr Khan from interacting with the media, however, allowing him to meet his close relatives subject to security clearance.
The same bench had also dismissed two identical writ petitions on October 31 and November 18 with an observation that the Supreme Court (SC) had already declared that only Dr Khan or his blood relations could file such pleas. Meanwhile, the court approved the review petition filed against its decision in Farah Dogar case and fixed the matter for hearing on February 9.
Iftikhar Hussain Rajput has filed the review through his counsel Javed Iqbal Jaffery against award of extra marks to Farah Hameed Dogar. Earlier, the single member bench of Chief Justice Sardar Muhammad had dismissed the appeals filed against the federal board regarding Farah Hameed Dogar case, the court described the decision of reassessment and rechecking of Farha's marks as correct and lawful. Iftikhar Hussain Rajput in his review said that the counsels of federal board and Farah Hameed Dogar gave incorrect facts so the case should be reheard.
