Chairman, Technical Education & Vocational Training Authority (Tevta) Mohsin Syed has said that Tevta planning to establish technical training centres at Deeni Madaris in phases throughout the Punjab province. He was addressing on the occasion of certificate distribution ceremony at Tevta Secretariat, which was held for the pass-outs of Tevta short courses of Al-Madina Islamic University, Gujranwala.
Mohsin said that it would enable the youth engaged in Deeni education to become financially independent and provision of job opportunities for these Deeni students in public or private sector. Technical training would enable them to have more options for sustainable livelihood and to meet the nation need of skilled workers.
Mohsin also said that as pilot projects, three technical training centres at Al-Khalil Quran Complex, Markazi Madrisa Darul Tajveed-o-Hifiz-ul-Quraan, DAV, College Road, Rawalpindi, Jamia Islamia Trust Kamoki and Madrissa Jamia Ghosia Mehria Lodhran have already been established. After getting successful results, Tevta has set up 23 technical training centres at selected Deeni Madaris across the province.
At present, more than 4,000 students have received technical education and training at these technical training centres. Short courses, having duration of three to six months, including Electronic Equipment Repair, Mobile Phone Repairing, Certificate in Computer Application, Electrical Wiring, Refrigeration & Air Conditioning, Electrical Motor Winding, Welder, Wireman, Electrician, Auto Mechanic, Plumber, Home Appliances Repair and Painter are being offered for boys. Machine Embroidery, Hand Embroidery, Cooking & Baking and Domestic Tailoring are also being offered at selected technical training centres for girls.
Tevta is providing machinery & equipment, furniture, training material, teaching and non-teaching staff while Deeni Madaris are responsible for providing space for classrooms and workshops for all proposed courses, he added.
