Chile's peso fell around 1.0 percent in early Friday trade after weaker-than-expected December industrial output data and as global bourses fell, traders said. Chile's peso was down 1.16 percent at 619.00/619.50 per dollar early, compared with Thursday's close at 611.80/612.30, before easing slightly.
"The peso's reaction to bad local data took a little while. I think you have to take mainly into account the industrial production and industrial sales figures, which fell too much in December."
