In order to overcome the problems of price hike in agricultural inputs and rapidly increasing cost of production, we have to shift our focus towards entrepreneurship in livestock and agricultural sectors so that the goal of poverty elevation may be achieved at grass root level.
This was stated by UAF Vice Chancellor, Professor Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan at the inaugural ceremony of Marketing Festival organised by the Department of Business Management of the University on Saturday morning.
Dr Iqrar said that UAF has submitted a project of Rs 3,000 million to US Aid for the establishment of Entrepreneurship Centre at Faculty of Agri. Economics and Rural Sociology to introduce innovative business approaches through products development. Unique and workable ideas need to be transformed into business and aggressive marketing so as to get maximum benefits of their products. Expressing his satisfaction over the quality of graduates produced by DBMS, Dr Iqrar said that the UAF is striving hard to inculcate its students to come up with realistic and innovative ideas to revamping the traditional business trends.
Dean, Faculty of Sciences Professor Dr Muhammad Ashraf said that quality of the stalls reflects and a testament of the capabilities and talent of the students and faculty as well. He termed the festival as colorful event of bright ideas. Professor Dr M. Inyat Khan Co-ordinator, DBMS said that last year a management buzz was held at Chenab Club but this event is more relevant to the Agricultural University as all stalls are related to agricultural products prepared by various departments of the university. He said that our faculty is 2nd to none and producing well accepted manpower for public and private organisations.
