Speakers at a function held in connection with 'Kashmir Solidarity Day' here on Friday have called upon the international community to play their due role for resolving the Kashmir issue for ensuring peace in the region. The function organised by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) was addressed among others by PML-N Central Finance Secretary Muhammad Pervez Malik, Shahbaz Haider and others.
Speaking on the occasion, Malik called upon the UN to take notice of serious violations of human rights in India including occupied Kashmir. He said "Minorities in India are deprived of religious freedom while lives and respect of lower cast is unsafe". He said innocent Kashmiri Muslims are facing untold miseries at the hands of occupational forces. "Torturing and killings of innocent people, molesting of women, destruction of their properties and setting ablaze their houses is a routine matter in occupied Kashmir.
He said perpetrators of barbaric acts enjoy full impunity, as courts in occupied Kashmir do not provide any relief to victims. He said over 100,000 people have fallen victim to Indian forces barbarism. "The international community must take notice of systematic genocide of Muslims in Kashmir", he added. The PML-N leader called for putting an end to unfounded prejudice and baseless propaganda against Muslims to ensure peace in the world.
He criticised India for its hue and cry over Mumbai attacks and baseless allegations against Pakistan. "India is itself involved in carnage of Muslims in Kashmir besides conspiracies against Pakistan, Sri Lanka and different other countries. On the one hand, India is using brutal force to suppress freedom movement in Kashmir while on the other it is patronising rebel groups in Sri Lanka", he added.
