An operation has been started from Kachura village side in Skardu district to rescue as many as 1474 villagers of Shagharthang, who stranded after sixth heavy snowfall of the current winter season in Baltistan Region.
Deputy Commissioner Skardu Asif Bilal Lodhi told APP that army jawans, local teams and people of Kachura village are rapidly working to clean the road from Soque village so that people could be able to reach Shagharthang which is cut off form other parts of Skardu.
According to sources, people of this village are badly affected and they are facing great hardship, as there is shortage of essential commodities, fuel and medicines in the area.
