The Lahore High Court in a petition filed by Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC) seeking possession of land allegedly grabbed by the residents of Shadman on Monday issued notices to the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) and other respondents for a February 25 hearing.
PIC through its Medical Superintendent (MS) submitted that Punjab government had allotted a piece of land to PIC measuring 2 kanals and 3 marlas adjacent to the institute.
The petitioner applied to the LDA for the demarcation of the said land but the authority refused to do so. The Petitioner contended that some residents of Shadman Colony by misleading the court had obtained possession of the said land to establish residential scheme over it.
The private respondents including Dr Rasheed Randhawa and Muhammad Ali etc without making PIC party in their cases got the orders in their favours from high court. The MS stated that the government had granted the land to PIC for its expansion plan, which could be proved by the record of revenue department. Further, he prayed to the court to direct the LDA to carry out demarcation of the land in favour of the Institute and cancel the allotments fraudulently obtained by the respondents.
