Ameer of Tehrik-i-Islami Pakistan, Syed Zahid Hussain Gilani, has said Pakistan People's Party (PPP) opposed a thorough army operation in Swat by the Musharraf Government but now is following the footsteps of the military dictator. Addressing a Press Conference here today along with Mehboob Alam Bhutta and Hakim Abdul Waheed.
He said that the current ruling parties were not working for the policies they vowed to implement before coming into power. He said that PPP supported the deposed CJP in actions and principle but now was creating hindrances in his way. He said that that the federal government should stop taking dictation from the Army and America.
Talking about the Swat crisis, he said that any effort to solve this issue through power would further blow-up the situation and worsen the socio-political conditions of the area. He was of the view that the natives of this area already were suffering at the hands of American shelling and this military operation by the government would aggravate their sentiments. He said that the domestic affairs were being handled in the same careless way as the foreign.
He said that everyday the government talking about welfare of the people but there were no concrete steps being taken to provide facilities. He said that he expected them to keep on performing the same way and that TIP would always be standing right next to them at all fronts.
