President of High Court Bar Association, Multan, Mehmood Ashraf Khan on Thursday vehemently condemned the interference of United States, France, Spain and other countries into the verdict of Islamabad High Court and said that government should not adopt apologetic attitude in the case of Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan.
Talking to newsmen here, he said, "we should not seek assistance over national issues before US's representative to Pakistan and Afghanistan Richard Holbrooke in our meeting as we do not want US interruptions in our national affairs." Mehmood Ashraf Khan said, "Aitizaz Ahsan discussed all burning issues including US drone strikes, delay in restoration of deposed judges and current political landscape in Pakistan.
Aitizaz was of the opinion that he did not ask Holbrooke for US's assistance because we do not want US to interrupt in our national affairs. However, some senior lawyers Habib-ullah Shakir, Qamar-uz-Zaman Butt, Sahibzada Farooq Ali Khan, without taking the Mian Nawaz Sharif's name, said that a political party was bent upon hatching a conspiracy to defame the present judiciary by publishing baseless stories in a section of press with the help of certain elements.
They took strong exception to the news that appeared in a section of the press regarding the relations of a Lahore High Court judge with an underworld don and termed it a conspiracy. They demanded of the superior judiciary to take a suo moto notice on the story that appeared in a section of the press regarding the relations of a LHC judge with a don. They further demanded of the Punjab government to investigate the matter as to how a journalist succeeded in getting the secret documents (Zimni) of the said incident.
