Efforts of the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis are laudable as it is making all out efforts to facilitate the overseas Pakistani community. Pakistan Ambassador to Seoul, South Korea Murad Ali expressed these views during a two-day visit to the cities of Daigu and Busan, South Korea.
During his visit the ambassador held meetings with the Pakistani community, on February 7 and 8, along with the Community Welfare Attache Mudassir Iqbal and a consular official, says a message received here from Embassy of Pakistan in Seoul, here on Thursday.
The Ambassador said that Pakistan embassy in Seoul was extending consular facilities to the immigrant workforce in the far-flung areas from where it is difficult for them to travel to the Capital for consular jobs. Substantial numbers of applications for issuance of passports were received by the Consular Team (application for 96 passports, attestation of 35 documents and 5 visa application), an amount of Rs 246,971 were received on account of consular fees.
In his address to the Pakistani community, the Ambassador assured them that the embassy will enhance its efforts to look after them and every possible effort will be made for resolution of their problems. Community Welfare Attache briefed them about the South Korean laws, procedure for recruitment under EPS and schemes of the Overseas Pakistanis Foundation.
He while emphasising for home remittance, said the present Government realising the importance of overseas Pakistanis and their role in the economic development of the country through their remittances and investments has created a new independent ministry exclusively to attend to their needs and demands. It may be mentioned that there are more than 5,000 Pakistanis working in the areas of Daegu and Busan.
Pakistan Embassy in Seoul is undertaking regular quarterly consular visits to these areas so the immigrant workers may get consular help right at their doorsteps. The quarterly consular visits are conducted on a weekend. Next visit will be held in May 2009.
