The tribal elders of the Frontier Region (FR) Darra Adam Khel Thursday called for immediate halt to the ongoing military operation in their area. Addressing a press conference here the tribal elders Sabir Hussein Afridi, Haji Mohammad Khan, Khiyal Afridi and Sabir Khan said that civilians are often targeted in the operation.
They expressed concern over the killing of 17 civilians including 12 minors in a mortar shell attack by the security forces on a school near the town of Darra in the region. They lamented the claims made by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) that the targeted civilians were militants.
The angry tribesmen also displayed the photos of the innocent victims of the shelling by the security forces. Those who have been reportedly killed in the attacks were identified as Waleed 15, Ashfaq 13, Roeed 13, Hasnian 6, Waqar 10, Mujeebullah Khan 10, Hanif 12, Hamza 12, Rahimullah 13, Wadood 5, Aftab 8, Majid 13, Aftab Khan Afridi 8.
The tribal elders alleged that those who came to the spot for collecting bodies were also targeted. They were included Javed Afridi, Sareeb Afridi, Inamullah and Ayub. In the recent past, they added that six minor girls fell victim to the firing of the security forces. They included Sania 10, Bushra 12, Asma 11, Zeba 10 and others.
