US cocoa futures rebounded in early trade Friday, the spot contract's first notice day, while arabica coffee futures likewise corrected up from Thursday's near six-week low, traders said. The market will be closed Monday for US Presidents Day, reopening for regular trade Tuesday. Arabica coffee for May delivery up 0.30 cent at $1.1475 per lb by 9:23 am EST (1423 GMT).
Narrow trading band from $1.1430 to $1.1590. May volume at 3,524 lots. The rest up from 0.25 to 0.95 cents. Benchmark May cocoa up $4 at $2,653 per tonne by 9:24 am with volume at 2,571 lots. Session range from $2,651 to $2,692. Spot-month March up $103 or 3.9 percent at $2,747 per tonne, with a light 183 lots. The rest from $29 to $31 stronger. First notice day for the March contract on the day.
