Luo Zhaohui, Chinese ambassador to Pakistan on Saturday said that China is utilising all efforts to defuse the ongoing tension between India and Pakistan after Mumbai terrorist attacks to avert any possible war in the region. "Pakistan adopted positive approach after Mumbai attacks and hold investigation of Mumbai attacks as per aspirations of the international community," the envoy said.
While talking to journalists after a colourful ceremony held to hand over plot to Chinese embassy for construction of new embassy at Malpur, a suburban area of Islamabad. "China will continue to support Pakistan at any hour of need," the envoy said, adding that Pakistan is itself a victim of terrorism and the world = should support Pakistan to eliminate terrorism from the country.
To a question regarding China's role in present economic crisis of Pakistan, Chinese envoy said that China has provided $500 million to help Pakistan in this economic crisis and more help and assistance will also be provided to soon. He said that China had provided assistance of $500 million to Pakistan in 1998, at the time of nuclear tests, when world imposed sanctions on Pakistan.
To another question about the impact of President Zardari's visit to China, he said that it will help further enhance the trade and economic co-operation between two friendly countries. "President Zardari is not only visiting Beijing, but also two other provinces, famous for agriculture and industrial development," he added.
Praising the political commitment and determination of President Zardari, the Chinese diplomat said that under his leadership the economic co-operation between two countries will reach new heights. Earlier, speaking on the occasion Capital Development Authority Chairman said that that acquisition of land in Malpur Village for Chinese embassy was a complicated issue, which was managed by CDA successfully.
He said that compensation against the property has been paid to the victims. Tariq appreciated the co-operation of the residents of Malpur and said that the village has already been declared as 'Model Village Malpur.' It will be clean, green and environment friendly model village, he added. The CDA Chairman said it was a gift from Pakistan to China as a token of Pak-China friendship.
Speaking on the occasion Luo Zhaohui said that Pak-China relations and friendship is an exemplary one and both the countries are proud of it. On the occasion, the Chinese Ambassador and the CDA Chairman jointly gave away compensation cheques and allotment letters to the victims of village Malpur.
