NWFP Minister for Finance Engineer Muhammad Humayun Khan has greatly commended the services of the officers of NWFP Finance Department and stated that he was surrounded by a team of well expert officers whose efforts were utilised in the removal of the people's problems in a better way.
He was talking to the officers of the Finance Department during a farewell-cum-welcome dinner hosted in honour of the outgoing Secretary Finance Ziaur Rahman and the new Secretary Faheem Khattak, at the Officers Mess on Saturday night. The minister said that as political representative, their existence in the government was timely but officers and other staff were a permanent asset of the government.
He said he had observed personally the contribution of Ziaur Rahman who had served for more than seven years in the Finance Department in the capacity of secretary. He said his support would fully be sought even in the new department where he has been transferred. He said transfers and postings were a routine matter during the service career but the efforts of Ziaur Rahman would fully be remembered.
The minister also lauded the acumen and sagacity of the new secretary Faheem Khattak and stated that his posting in the Finance Department was not new.
He disclosed that he had also served as a provincial finance secretary for about two years while he had also enough experience in the federal finance department and accountant general of NWFP. Speaking on the occasion Ziaur Rahman expressed his gratitude to the officers of the department and assured his full co-ordination to his old colleagues. The new secretary finance Faheem Khattak assured the officers and other staff of the Finance Department that he would work with a better team spirit and utilise his energies for the solution of the people's grievances.
Later, the minister gave away gifts to the old and new secretaries as well as the recently retired officers of the Finance Department Zainullah Khan, Zafeer Gul and Mian Rafiq Akbar. The function ended with a joint pledge to work hard for the larger interest of the people of the province.
The retired Special Secretary Finance Zainullah Khan, retired private secretary to the finance minister Zafeer Gul, retired Deputy Secretary Mian Rafiq Akbar, the new SSF Abdul Samad Khan, new Project Director SAC Rashid Ahmad Khan and all the existing officers of the Finance Department attended the dinner.
