National ICT R & D Fund, Ministry of IT & "Telecom organised a "Symposium on Research and Development funding opportunities for ICTs and other stakeholders" here at Islamabad Club Monday. Hifz-ur-Rehman, Federal Secretary, Ministry of IT & Telecom was the chief quest on this occasion and opened the symposium.
He emphasised the importance of knowledge economy with special focus to its significance in developing economics. The symposium was held for academicians and industry, stressing the need for conceiving innovative ideas and developing proposals in the field of Information Communication Technologies and how they could avail funding opportunities from National ICT R & D Fund.
The theme of this symposium was to bring together experts from different fields to promote knowledge and research in ICTs in order to provide funding opportunities to concrete R & D proposals.
On this occasion, President of PASHA, Jehan Ara addressed the audience, recognising and acknowledged the significant contributions in the domain of ITCs in Pakistan by young entrepreneurs. She emphasised that Pakistan has a great potential for growth in Information Communication Technologies and presently this industry stands at $2 billion and has a potential to grow manifold in the future.-PR
