Japan Inter-national Co-operation Agency (Jica) and Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims) is holding a two weeks course on Safe Motherhood from February 16, 2009 to February 28, 2009 at the Mother and Child Health Center (MCH) in Pims Islamabad. The opening Ceremony in this regard was held here Tuesday at MCH, Pims.
The training course aims to impart knowledge and skills to 5 teams of health personnel selected from province of Sindh and Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) in order to create "Safe Motherhood Districts" in Sindh and Fata. Every one minute a woman dies due to obstetric complications world-wide. Over 600,000 die in one year. 99 per cent of these are in the developing countries. -PR
