Chehlum of Shuhda-i-Karbala was observed in Multan and other parts of Southern Punjab on Monday. More than 100 processions of Alam, Taazia, Zuljinnah were taken out amid tight security. Heavy police contingent was deployed on the route while elite force was patrolling in the city. Army was also called out for the assistance of the civil administration.
Extra ordinary security measures were taken in Dera Ghazi Khan where severe tense prevailed since February 5 when a suicidal attack was occurred in which 36 people had died. Police and rangers were patrolling in Dera Ghazi Khan city. All shops and Bazars were closed on this occasion.
