Prices of US cotton and frozen concentrated orange juice futures which were traded early on Tuesday as follows. May cotton down 0.13 cent at 45.15 cents per lb by 11:45 am EST (1645 GMT) Trading from 45.97 cents to 44.13, the lowest since December 12, 2008, for the second position. May volume at 2,805 lots.
Thinly traded market weighed down by broad-based pressure in the commodity complex. The Reuters-Jefferies CRB index, a global commodities benchmark, was down 3 percent to 6-1/2 year lows as the US dollar firmed. March juice contract fell 1.85 cents or 2.7 percent to 66.15 cents per lb at 11:42 am.
Trading from 68.20 cents to 64.60, the lowest for the spot month on a monthly continuation chart since August 2004. March volume at 1,915 lots. Down on position rolling out of March into the May contract, pressured by slowing demand and the seasonal tendency to fall following the end of Florida's cold period, said dealers.
