Pakistan has formally demanded of India to hand over Ajmal Kasab to Pakistan so that he will be investigated properly for his alleged involvement in Mumbai terrorist attacks. His repatriation will help remove many doubts and to make sure the transparent trial of the accused, well placed sources in Interior Ministry said here on Wednesday.
They said that Ajmal Kasab was Pakistani national and as per international laws, he would be tried in Pakistan for his crime that he committed in Mumbai. Pakistani investigators would ask Kasab as to how he managed this attack in India and who facilitated him in reaching Mumbai and who provided him arms, ammunition and other logistic support in India, they said.
"It is impossible to make such high profile terrorist strike without the active support of local and native people," they said, adding that Kasab would be asked about his Indian facilitators in this heinous crime. Meanwhile, Deputy Attorney General Sardar Ghazi Khan told media that he had been appointed special public prosecutor in Mumbai terrorist attack case. "It is our principal stand that Kasab should be handed over to Pakistan for investigation."
He said that Kasab was the only survivor of the Mumbai attack and he would be in a position to expose various hidden aspects of Mumbai attacks such as details of the facilitators and other nine people, who had been killed in the carnage. He said that India was asked officially to hand over Kasab and evidences about other suspected terrorists of Mumbai attacks.
When asked that there was no agreement for exchange of criminals between Pakistan and India, Sardar Ghazi said there was no need of any agreement for repatriation of Kasab to Pakistan. "He is a Pakistani national and committed a crime in India and he will be tried as per Pakistani law," he said. Meanwhile, the Foreign Office spokesman denied that no formal demand of expatriation of Ajmal Kasab was made to India.
