President Asif Ali Zardari on Thursday directed the Punjab government to take immediate steps for providing speedy relief to Mukhtaran Mai and also ensure security to her against harassment by the culprits.
Taking notice of various media reports in which it was pointed out that Mukhtaran Mai is being subjected to harassment by some influential people, President Zardari instructed provincial government that justice should be done in this case without any fear and favour.
President has also directed that provincial government to submit a report on this matter to him immediately. President also made it clear that any effort by government functionaries to delay and deny justice to downtrodden and woman folks especially in the case of Maukhtaran Mai would not be tolerated.-PR
