Speaker Punjab Assembly Rana Muhammad Iqbal Khan has said that local government system is not being abolished rather some changes are being brought in, to purge it of corruption. Addressing the convention at Forest House, Changa Manga on Saturday, he said that Chief Minister Punjab Mian Shahbaz Sharif under the principles of hard-working, service and honesty wanted to make the province developed ones.
"We have to present ourselves as a model of civilised nation in accordance with our word and deed," he added. He said that February 18 was the day of emancipation from dictatorship, adding that 180 million people Pakistan buried the dictatorship once for ever through their power of vote.
Eulogised the courageous steps of Mian Nawaz Sharif, the speaker said Mian Nawaz Sharif during his tenure of premier-ship had proved by conducting nuclear test that "Pakistan is a nuclear state and nobody can dare to cast evil eye on Pakistan." Regarding representatives of women in local body system, he said that 35 percent women were playing their role in local councils while their role in other fields could not be ignored.
