A huge quantity of smuggled goods of foreign origin has been seized by the Directorate General, Intelligence and Investigation (DGI&I) of Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), Karachi. According to credible information received by Khalid Naseem, Director General, DGI&I, Karachi, some unknown smugglers were transporting huge quantity of goods to Karachi for selling at local markets.
The DGI&I initiated operation and seized some 3935 tyres, 2811 kg black tea, 2000 litres mobil oil, Toyota Land Cruiser, and Shehzore truck worth around Rs 2 million. Besides, two Mazda truckloads gents suiting (approximately 37,000 metres, having market value of Rs 0.605 million) was seized from Pakistan Chowk, near I I Chundrigarh Road, Karachi, while being transported to godown in North Karachi. Both vehicles were also seized under Customs Act, 1969 as the same were being used for transportation of smuggled goods.
