Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Amir Qazi Hussain Ahmad has declared that his party will actively participate in the lawyer' long march and sit-in. He also said that he would personally ensure his presence in the sit-in in Islamabad on March 16.
A delegation, headed by Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) President Ali Ahmad Kurd, and comprising Chaudhry Aitzaz Ahsan, Hamid Khan and former justice Tariq Mahmud, called on the JI chief at Mansoora here on Saturday. Qazi Hussain Ahmad, talking to the lawyers, said that JI would play the front role in lawyers' long march.
He said that if the Supreme Court would be sovereign, then all the problems would be solved. He said that if the judges would be restored, then the Supreme Court would clear all the constitutional hurdles, which would help in organising the people of the country.
He appreciated the lawyers' struggle for the restoration of judiciary, and hoped that the lawyers' movement proved to be the movement of the salvation of the people. SCBA president Ali Ahmad Kurd said that they had made a code of conduct for the long march, and hoped that all the political parties would follow it.
He said after the announcement of the joining the movement by two political parties Pakistan Muslim League (N) and Jama'at-e-Islami, the movement had taken a decisive turn and entered the decisive phase, and added the movement was peaceful. Kurd thanked the JI for extending all out support to the lawyers' community for making their sit-in successful. He said that the lawyers would stage sit-in until the reinstatement of the deposed chief justice.
