A condolence reference was held here Saturday to pay homage to the services of renowned spiritual leader, religious personality, poet and custodian of Golra Sharif shrine, late Pir Naseer-ud-Din Naseer, who breathed his last on February 13 last.
The condolence reference was jointly organised by two prominent spiritual leaders including custodian of Bhera Sharif shrine Pir Syed Amin-ul-Hasnaat, and custodian of Bagar Sharif shrine, Professor Sajid-ur Rehman, both are close friend of late religious leader.
The ceremony was attended by Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Dr Zaheeruddin Babar Awan, custodian of Eidgah Sharif shrine Pir Naqib-ur Rehman, Sahibzada Badr-e Alam, son of Pir Naseer, Nizamuddin Jami and brother, Ghulam Jalaluddin, besides huge number of devotees and followers from across the region.
Addressing the gathering Dr Zaheeruddin Babar Awan conveyed the condolence of President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani, government and his family members and offered the prayer for forgiveness of departed soul and courage and fortitude to the bereaved family to bear the loss. The minister said Pir Naseer was a multi-faceted personality, having grasp on several languages, Quran, Hadith, poetry, oratory and spiritualism. He said the massive participation by the people from all schools of thought in Pir Naseer's funeral was the manifestation of the fact that Pir Naseer always advocated love and Muslim unity through Quran, Sunnah as well as his own writings.
He urged the Muslim community to bring unity among them regardless of their affiliation with any sect and create mutual understanding and unite on the common points of the thought of one another's sects.
The federal minister said there is dire need that we tell the world that Muslims are the preacher of love with humanity and rectify the image of Islam and Muslims in the world but, he said, for this purpose, Pirs from every school of thought would have to come out from their shrines. Later, he reiterated his condolence to bereaved family and assured them for all of his support, hoping that his heirs would keep the message of late Pir Naseer alive.
Pir Amin-ul-Hasnaat said the death of Pir Naseer was not only the loss of single family or sect rather it shocked every person, having any association with the doctrine of spiritualism. He said Pir Naseer has always been critical to clergy in his writings, as to him, they are not doing the service of Islam as per standards set by their ancestors. He said it is only the shrines, not any movement, which can bring Islam in every one's life and assure country's security.
Renowned religious scholar, Dr Tufail said the clergy seems behind in knowledge, adding that the heirs of Pir Naseer should not only preserve his writings but also publish them to keep him alive in people's heart and mind. Professor Dr Sajid-ur Rehman said be it Movement of Khatm-e Nabuwat, Qadianiat or Tahrik-e Nizam-e Mustafa, Golra Sharif shrine had always rendered its huge services on every stage. He said Potohar region feels proud of having association with the Golra Sharif shrine, what he said always spread message of love peace and harmony.
