The Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Upper Fata Livelihood Development Programme (LDP) on Saturday inked Letter of Agreement (LoA) to work as partners for the benefit of upper Fata youth.
The LCCI President Mian Muzaffar Ali signed the LoA on behalf of the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry while the Upper Fata Livelihood Development Programme (LDP) was represented by Director LDP Employment Generation Unit Sajila Sohail Khan. LCCI Vice President Irfan Iqbal Sheikh and a number of Executive Committee members were also present on the occasion.
Under the LoA, the Upper Fata Livelihood Development Programme (LDP) will provide Fata youth with marketable skills so as to increase the chances of their gainful employment and contribution towards family income. The LDP will place Fata youth as apprentices within work places of the members of the LCCI to get on-job training on various trades and skills. Both the sides would evolve a unified strategy on the issues of common interest by sharing data needed to make the agreement a big success.
Speaking on the occasion, the LCCI President Mian Muzaffar Ali assured the LDP that the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry would make all out efforts for ensuring placement of skilled youth from Fata. He said that at this point of time the harmony between various trade-related organisations is of special significance and it would help solve the issues being faced by the country. While briefing the LDP officials about the working of the LCCI, the LCCI President said that the LCCI, which is working on Open Door Policy to get the issues solved more efficiently, has always tried to live up to the expectations of member firms in resolution of their problems.
