Spot basis bids for hard red winter wheat in the US Plains were mostly steady Monday, though some firming was noted as farmer selling remained sluggish. The basis in Enid, Oklahoma, was 5 cents a bushel firmer, while other locations were unchanged. The Gulf track bid for nearby delivery remained withdrawn. Domestic mill demand widened as offers continued to be lacking.
Short soil moisture remained a concerns in parts of the US Plains. Kansas City Board of Trade March HRW wheat futures were expected to open 5-7 cents higher on Monday, following outside markets. Asian trade was higher after the KCBT March ended Friday down 2 cents at $5.56-1/4 and the May settled 3-1/2 cents lower at $5.63-1/2. Egypt bought 240,000 tonnes of Russian wheat for shipment March 16-31.
