The government should announce Progressive Youth Policy for provision of free education to meet the standard to each child and dismantle double standard of education system, which is creating sharp gulf between people and strengthening privileged and unprivileged class system.
Justice Dr Justice Iqbal (Retd) expressed his views in a conference organised under the aegis of "Pakistan Workers Federation' here on Tuesday. He said, 'Youth are the future of our country. They should make concerted struggle through their strong organisation to dismantle outdated feudal system and evil of ignorance and Social & Economic deprivation of the down trodden and establish a democratic Islamic Welfare State as visualised by the Founder of the nation Quaid-e-Azam and Dr Allama Iqbal'.
Many Youth Wing representatives of the various Industrial Trade Unions of different organisation across the country were also present on the occasion. Dr Javaid Iqbal appealed to the youth to equip themselves with modern knowledge and technological skills to overthrow the dependence of the nation of the reliance policy.
The conference was also addressed by Secretary of the Youth Wing of the Federation, Tariq, along with the representatives of youth from the various provinces, including Abdul Latif (Peshawar), Imran Beg (Karachi), Assadullah Khan (Hyderabad) Amjad Niazi (Multan), Ahmed Khan (Bannu), Rana Khalid, Malik Saeed, Shabnam Senior Vice Chairperson and Saima Secretary Education, Hassan Munir Bhatti and others. The meeting was also addressed by Khurshid Ahmed, General Secretary of the Federation who urged the youth to strengthen their organisation in Democratic Trade Union Movement and achieve their economic and social human right.
Raja Jalil Veteran Journalist and ex-President Punjab Union of Journalists also addressed on the occasion. It also urged the government to raise the wages of apprentice and young workers in line with price hike and eliminate discrimination in employment against women folk and ensure the principle of equal pay and amend Industrial Relation Act and enforce Labour Laws in conformity with ILO Convention No 87, 98 and 81 ratified by the government of Pakistan and ensure Independence of Judiciary and Freedom of Press in the country.
