Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani has summoned a special meeting of the Federal Cabinet on Friday to discuss the political situation in the country emerged after the disqualification of Sharif brothers. The cabinet meeting headed by the Prime Minister will discuss the political as well as law and order situation in the wake of imposition of Governor's rule in Punjab.
The meeting will also discuss administrative issues of the Punjab province. President Zardari imposed Governor Rule in Punjab under Article 234 of the Constitution after the Supreme Court decision.
The Prime Minister said that the Governor rule would not prolong over two months and was only imposed to fill up the vacuum created as a result of Shahbaz Sharif's disqualification.
The SC verdict against Sharif brothers triggered countrywide protests that affected the normalcy of life to a greater extent in the province of Punjab particularly. The cabinet would ponder over ways and means to handle the prevailing political situation that if not calmed down may result in further chaos and political instability in the country.
