Federal Commerce Minister Makhdoom Amin Fahim on Thursday brushed aside the notion of any involvement of the government in the disqualification of Sharif brothers. He said that the federal government did not launch any offensive against the Punjab government.
Talking to media persons here after offering Dua for the departed soul of the mother of Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, Amin Fahim said the imposition of Governor's Rule in Punjab was actually a "Constitutional obligation". "After the Supreme Court verdict, the political scenario has changed. To cope with the changed situation, the government had to impose Governor Rule in Punjab," said Fahim.
The minister, however, regretted the disqualification verdict, and said he was sad over what happened though the government had no role in this. To a query about Lawyers' Long March and sit-in, the Minister said the Long March was no threat to the federation and whosoever wants to participate in the march may go ahead with such plans.
