Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leader Mian Nawaz Sharif said on Saturday that he was waging a just struggle for bringing true democratic rule, independent judiciary and protection of rights of people of Pakistan. He said this while talking to the PML-N legislators from Lahore at his Raiwind residence.
As many as 38 PML-N MNAs and MPAs from Lahore participated in the meeting in which strategy was evolved for making the ongoing PML-N protest organised and effective, sources in the PML-N told Business Recorder. PML-N President Shahbaz Sharif, Ishaq Dar, Ahsan Iqbal and others were also present.
Nawaz said: "We are waging a just struggle for the country's survival and would steer the country out of existing crisis." He also asked the party legislators to prepare for making the lawyers' long march a great success, which was necessary to change the country's fate.
The meeting decided to hold a rally in Lahore from Neela Gumbad to Punjab Assembly to protest against disqualification of Sharif brothers and imposition of the Governor's Rule on Punjab. It was decided to show full strength of the PML-N in the rally in which the PML-N activists from different parts of the province will participate. Nawaz Sharif would address the participants of the rally, the sources said.
The meeting also formed various committees to make necessary arrangements to make the party protest effective. Meanwhile, in an interview to a private channel, Nawaz said President Asif Ali Zardari had violated the agreements and "now a democratic revolution could come in the country, which is need of the hour."
Nawaz said that President Zardari must carry forward the legacy of Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Shaheed instead of General Pervez Musharraf (Retd). He said that President Zardari intended to take the nation towards mid-term elections. "No third force can come into power, if the government shows responsibility. I will not come in Zardari's way if he restores the judges today," he said.
