The Chief Justice of Sindh High Court (SHC) Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali has said that 17 vacant posts of judges in Sindh High Court will be filled within the short span of time while recruitment of 60 vacancies of the civil judges would be made through Sindh Public Service Commission (SPSC) to facilitate the litigant public at their doorstep.
This he said while addressing the inaugural ceremony of Annexe Building of High Court Hyderabad Circuit and talking to the journalists on Saturday evening. He told the media that at present, against the strength of 40 judges, only 23 judges were working. He said that out of them one judge has been placed at the disposal of federal government on deputation. He said that there was the shortage of 17 judges and hopefully it would be filled within shortest possible time.
He said that after the appointment of more judges, it would be possible to increase the number of High Court judges at High Court Hyderabad Circuit. He said that previously there was High Court Selection Committee to recruit the new civil judges but now procedure has been changed under which the 60 vacancies of civil judges would be filled through Sindh Public Service Commission. Responding a question about confirmation of six judges of High Court, he said that the confirmation of these judges would be made by March 15, 2009.
Chief Justice SHC Jamali said that until and unless working condition and required facilities are not provided to the judges, the maximum output could not be expected from them. He said that government was taking all possible efforts to facilitate the judges and law officers to ensure speedy justice to the people through disposal of pending cases. Earlier, Justice Arif Hussain Khilji, President High Court Bar Association Hyderabad Circuit Qazi Abdul Sattar and General Secretary Allah Bachayo Soomro also spoke on the occasion.
