Watan Party Pakistan (WPP) through a constitutional petition has challenged the proclamation of "Governor Rule" before the Supreme Court of Pakistan. The petition filed through counsel Barrister Zafarullah Khan prayed to the court to declare the imposition of governor rule in province of Punjab as illegal and unconstitutional.
Petitioner contended that the imposition of governor rule was unconstitutional and illegal as the SC had only disqualified two persons, not the whole provincial assembly. Besides seeking directions to end the governor rule the petitioner also requested the court that no curbs be placed on media regarding publication in the public interest.
