Advisor to the Prime Minter on Interior Rehman Malik has said that all-out efforts are underway to find the Polish engineer kidnapped by unidentified persons from Attock on September 28, 2008. He informed the National Assembly on Thursday that a Polish engineer Stanczak Piotr, who was working with a survey company was kidnapped by unidentified persons from Pind Sultani, district Attock.
During kidnapping, three locals (guards and driver) travelling with the Polish Engineer were killed by the assailants. He said that soon after the incident, local police immediately rushed to the spot, cordoned the area, set up pickets at the exit points of the district and informed the NWFP Police.
An FIR has also been registered at Police Station Basal against the unknown culprits, he said, adding a special team headed by SP Investigation, Attock was constituted instantly with the directions to nab the culprits.
He said that the police had recorded the statements of the company officials and the investigation team also surveyed all the bridges of Indus River and asked the boatmen regarding the whereabouts of the kidnapped engineer/culprits but no useful information was received.
Record of vehicles, entered on Fateh Jang-Bahtar and Dhoke Hameeda Interchanges of the Motorway at the time of incident was also obtained but no clue could be found, he informed. "Two suspects, namely Umer Farooq S/o Sattar Khan and Tariq Ismail S/o Abdul Hakeem residents of the locality were arrested and interrogated by the investigation team but no link was established between them and the case", he added.
On February 7, 2009, some TV channels released a video of kidnapped Polish engineer, claiming that he had been killed by Taliban in Dara Adam Khel, but Rehman Malik said that further investigation and efforts are underway to trace the kidnappers and killers of the Polish engineer and bring them to justice.
