The Price Magistrates have launched grand operation against the profiteers and hoarders of daily use items in the district under the direction of DCO Saeed Wahlah. During the operation the Price Magistrates had conducted 327 raids in different markets and bazaars in the district on Thursday and arrested 161 vendors on the charge of overcharging and non-display of price lists in 166 successful raids.
A total fine of Rs 196600/- was imposed on them and 27 vendors were punished two days imprisonment and they were sent to jail. The DCO warned shopkeepers to refrain from overcharging of essential commodities otherwise they would have to face the legal action in this regard.
He directed the Price Magistrates to continue their campaign against the self created dearness and heavy fines should be imposed on the defaulters besides sending them behind the bars so that people could be saved from the exploitation of profiteers, hoarders and black marketers.
