The senior civil judge Khanewal Arshad Hussain, on the instructions of the Lahore High Court (LHC), ordered to destroy as many as 40,000 files of old cases. A court official said that the files pertained to applications for grant of bail, change of police investigation and registration of cases by the police during period of 1994 to 2004.
These files were torched in the physical presence of the senior civil judge Arshad Hussain.
