Advisor to Prime Minister on Interior Rehman Malik has said that investigation into the attack on Sri Lankan cricket team was heading in right direction, adding that foreign hands involvement in the attack could not be ruled out. Talking to media after holding meeting with Jammat-e-Islami Chief Qazi Hussain Ahmed on Friday, Malik said that long march was not an issue for the government.
He said that the purpose of his meeting with Qazi Hussain Ahmed was to discuss the security situation of the country. To a question he said that he could not rule out foreign involvement in the Sri Lankan cricket attack. He also said that criminals involved in the attack would be taken to task.
Talking regarding Punjab situation he called for shunning the politics horse-trading. Later, Qazi Hussain Ahmed told journalists that Malik came here to brief him about the security situation of the country. He said that long march and sit-in was not discussed in his meeting with Rehman Malik.
He said that we will participate in the long march and sit-in according to the decision of the executive committee of Jammat -e-Islami. He demanded that not only Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry and other saked judges be restored but all the unconstitutional actions taken by General Musharraf on November 3, 2008 should be reversed. He ruled out playing of any reconciliatory role between PML-N and PPP.
