Justice Bilal made IHC Chief Justice as Justice Aslam elevated to Supreme Court

President Asif Ali Zardari on Saturday appointed Chief Justice of the Islamabad High Court Sardar Mohammad Aslam as judge of the Supreme Court with effect from March 9. Justice M. Bilal Khan, Lahore High Court (LHC) judge has been appointed as Chief Justice of IHC by the president.
A notification issued by the Law and Justice Division said the President has made the appointment in exercise of the powers conferred upon him by Article 177 of the Constitution. Chief Justice Abdul Hameed Dogar will administer the oath of the office to Justice Sardar Muhammad Aslam Chief Justice IHC as Judge Supreme Court of Pakistan and Justice M. Bilal Khan Judge LHC, as Chief Justice of Islamabad High Court on March 9 at Supreme Court.
Sardar Mohammad Aslam, who is retiring as IHC chief on March 8, was appointed first head of the IHC in February 2008 after its establishment through a Presidential Constitutional (Amendment) Order, 2007, on December 14. He started his career as advocate in 1973 and did practice as advocate High Court and the Supreme Court.
He was appointed Deputy Attorney General in the year 2001. In 2003, he was appointed Additional Judge at the Lahore High Court. In 1975 he was president of Kahuta Bar Association, member Punjab Bar Council in 1988, President Rawalpindi Bar Association in 1993 and President High Court Bar Association, Rawalpindi in 1999.
